Runway Music or What Can Sparkle the Fashion Rhythm?

fashion music for runway showsNo fashion show can happen without the sound of energy that is difficult to control, and more so, to manipulate. This is a skill of a truly professional DJ.

How do they do it and what music is “runway music”? What music does fashion industry need (vocal, mix, rhythm, etc.)?

DJ 108: This is an interesting question. To my opinion, each designer should have his or her own vision. This is truly about style, clothing and music that will accompany the collection during its journey into the world. As far as I am concerned, fashion sound should have a very thick rhythm, such as R&B and House (depending on a collection style). Generally, it’s very difficult to answer this question. If I could envision some examples, I would try to find the music for them.

DJ Joly: minimalist style, no vocal for the most part. If there is any vocal, then it should be a female singer with a gentle voice… and a smooth mix. Though it is necessary to match music with the show to reflect the clothing style.

DJ Sun: Each Movement – the set should be very well structured creating relaxation and culmination depending on the goals of an event. The best is to use “bit serial” mixing because your pace will not change and it will be easier for models to walk. The set should be thought through in advance (if it’s a club, then it depends on the audience; if it’s a fashion show, it depends on the designer, his or her goals, thoughts, mood, etc.). The most popular show tricks are a light spinback, powerdown, scratches.

Dj Rob Wood (from his book “How to DJ”) – a DJ’s set at a fashion show is very different from the one in a club. It is not your task to react to the crowd. Instead, you will be asked to rehearse with the models and select the music that would totally concentrate everyone’s attention on the collection. It’s not an easy job. The set should be very well planned and the synchronization should be perfect. And no peeping into the dressing room while the girls are changing…

So what music can sparkle a flame in a fashion lover?

Dj Vlada: I think that Haute Couture should be present not only in fashion but also in music, and that’s what Deep House does the best. Deep House is House music first of all and then it’s a deep sound of instruments. Deep House is a minimalist. It’s the music that is not meant for dancing. Some think that Deep House is a lot like classic Detroit and is just a strange mixture of music and vocal. In fact, it is very subtle and was created for those who can appreciate glamor, chic and sparkle.

Great Thank You to all DJs from St. Petersburg who shared their knowledge. Source: Fashionbank.ru. Translated by OlenaInStyle.com

Black to Blond 2008: Quite a Hair Show...

Stylish Ideas to Revive Last Year's Swimwear

Stylish Ideas to Revive Last Year's SwimwearThe most fashionable ideas of the swimwear season 2008 are definitely stripes, flower and leopard print. But it does not mean that one can not turn an ordinary simple swimsuit into a fashion delight. Here are some small and witty tricks with a huge meaning:

Decorate with No Fear!

The most popular elements 2008: bows and knots of all sizes, embroidery, juicy color piping, lacing, “golden” and “silver” chains, buckles, clasps and even artificial gems (or real ones if you can afford it!).

Throw in Some Accessories

big plastic necklaces of bright colors, huge beach bags (plastic or straw). If you are going with a one piece swimsuit, do not hesitate to take advantage of belts: wide and massive ones or a-la 80-s ones will accent the waist line. And finally, do not forget about a hat and a pair of cute flip-flops!

Voll Modern Mitten im Sommer

Mode 2008von OlgaInStyle

Slimming Advice #3: Will Exercises Ever Work for Me?

weight loss and excercisesTo keep it short: exercises are necessary to loose weight and stay in shape after having reached the desired frame. Exercises, however, have 2 major flaws:

- It is next to impossible to commit to them on every day basis;
- Not all of them work for everyone for a number of different reasons.

It is important to accept these two facts and work around them, not give up. Finding the type of work out that will do the job for you will probably take some time, experiments and professional assistance. The most important task though is to start with regular physical activity, not every day but minimum 3 times a week. Fit it into your schedule and commit to it: 3 hours a week are possible to find if you are really serious about getting rid of extra weight. In combination with healthy and portioned meals, healthy consumption of alcohol and other beverages, the work outs should deliver great results. And oh, it will not happen over night or even in 2-3 months. The real results will be visible in about 6 months to a year, so let’s stay realistic.

If Looks Could Kill - A Fashion Surprise from Toyota with Killer Prizes

fashion house
Toyota Camry '09 have launched a very fashionable and alternative campaign "If Looks Could Kill". It's a series of spy movie episodes turning around the main character, Bianca Turner, the assistant designer in the House of Champagne. Her father’s past as a CIA agent starts catching up with her and she finds herself in the world of espionage in need of answers.

The episodes are fun to watch (all about fashion!) and each of them gives a viewer keys to help Bianca solve the mystery. The great part of one's participation is the opportunity to win stylish prizes from Toyota after each episode and the grand prize at the end of the campaign:

Grand Prize: The grand prize (2009stylish prize Toyota Camry XLE loaded, MSRP $40k) draws from anyone registering throughout the series— entry deadline is 7/28 and is to be awarded 8/16.

Episode Prizes: Each episode will have its very own prize drawing as they’re directly related to what happens in that week’s episode. I’ve seen the entire list, let’s just say it gets better each week!

To Paris With Love prizes (this week):

o $250 Coach gift cards – 50 to be given away
o $75 Carol’s Daughter gift cards – 75 given away
o A Trip to Paris

You can still participate in this week's episode "To Paris with Love". I had fun watching it and hope that my readers will enjoy it also and win a ton of prizes!
